Hot business on a cool planet
There is no way around it – we must reduce greenhouse gas emissions to keep global warming in check. Global energy demand, however, keeps growing. Switching to carbon-free renewables is a complex process which demands innovation and skillful applications.
We power decarbonization
Most of our customers are in the energy business. And they need to meet climate targets. MAN Energy Solutions helps businesses worldwide to square the circle in order to achieve a carbon-neutral future.
If you're looking to curb your carbon emissions while keeping control of your energy costs and supply, MAN Energy Solutions is your partner. We work with utilities, industries and independent power producers, providing optimized local energy generation solutions and innovative storage solutions. We also offer novel decarbonization solutions such as power-to-X or ultra-efficient and clean hybrid power plants. Working with us also means benefiting from the latest technologies – including our smart energy management systems, which choose the most environmentally friendly, economical energy sources for power production.
MAN solutions for decarbonization
Energy storage
Switching to renewable energy sources greatly improves the world's carbon footprint. However, renewable power production usually relies on the weather and can be very volatile. Production and demand times do not necessarily match. Storing surplus power for later use improves both the overall efficiency and stability of these systems. Our unique electro-thermal energy storage (ETES) system combines tried-and-tested technology with the latest in carbon capturing.
Beside ETES we offer a variety of technologies to help you decarbonize your processes, including battery energy storage systems (BESS). We can also provide key equipment for a wide range of other storage technologies like liquid air energy storage (LAES) or compressed air energy storage (CAES).
How you benefit:- Increased efficiency
- No wasted energy
- Improved carbon footprint
- Variety of solutions for all types of energy
Hybrid power plants
Smart solutions are needed to ensure that production meets demand, and to store any surplus power generated for future use as needed. Using renewable energies for sustainable power generation is the ultimate goal – but they all rely on one factor to perform: The weather. Its unpredictable nature makes consistent energy production and availability difficult.
Our hybrid power solutions combine renewable energy sources, thermal power generation and energy storage systems in a microgrid. Storing surplus power and using instant power top-ups from engine and turbine gensets fueled with gas, biofuels or even synthetic fuels can make wind and solar power systems more reliable.
How you benefit:
- Increased reliability
- Increased fuel efficiency
- Fewer emissions
- Enhanced independence and fuel flexibility
Power-to-X
Power suppliers are looking for ways to produce clean energy – and store it for future use, or to balance out supply deficits in different regions. MAN Energy Solutions offers waste-free and highly efficient solutions based on existing infrastructures that meet these goals.
Our innovative PtX solution converts energy into carbon-neutral synthetic fuels – an effective way of storing large amounts of energy over long periods of time. It has a wide range of applications in the mobility, heat and electricity sectors. By coupling the major energy sectors, PtX will play a major role in creating a truly carbon-neutral energy system, reaching the world's ambitious climate protection goals and balancing disparities in availability between regions.
How you benefit:
- No wasted energy
- Single-source solution
- Carbon-neutral energy
- Wide range of applications
