Licensees of MAN Energy Solutions
On the two-stroke side, the manufacturing activities in Copenhagen were stopped back in the 1980s and the focus was set on the research and development instead. From this time onwards, the efforts were devoted to increasing our huge knowledge base and further developing the two-stroke engine principle.
On the four-stroke side, production of engines and GenSets featuring the latest technolgoies is still being done in our own facilities. But thanks to our family of licensees, we are able to maintain a large portfolio of trusted and well-known engines and GenSets as addition to our latest products.
Previously, European manufacturers were well represented in our licensee family. In recent decades, the emergence of tiger economies has changed the map such that Asia is dominating the representation today. Mitsui of Japan has held a licence to build B&W engines since 1926 and is, thus, the oldest of our two-stroke licensees. However, Korea's and China's emergence as a global manufacturing power has meant that most of our now most active licensees are based there.
