Senior Service Engineer – Sri Lanka

We can offer you the following tasks:

Senior Service Engineer is responsible for carrying out service and maintenance in accordance with assigned accountabilities.

• Perform extensive maintenance, repairs and services on all type of machines (e.g. replacement of vibration dampers, hydraulically pressed cams) in accordance with the specified work cards / documents.

• Develop timelines and projects completion deadline with line manager; monitor lead time and quality.

• Write performance requirements for engineering projects.

• Execute LMRA (Last Minute Risk Analysis) on location before starting work.

• Correctly use PPE (personal protective equipment) provided.

• Carry out assembly preparation for upcoming more demanding (extensive) service assignments, e.g. check commissioned spare parts for completeness, allocation and correctness.

• Follow the service schedule and ensure supply of materials required to maintain machines or equipment in the prescribed condition. Specific compilation of special tools including preparation for dispatch.

• Read and interpret the blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer generated reports, and ensure that the tools, materials and parts needed are available.

• Efficiently plan work processes with manpower requirements, determination of assembly procedures on site in accordance with the specified work cards/documents. Thereby be technical instructor, coordinator and advisor of assigned (external) personnel. Coach service technicians and engineers to carry out planning, maintenances commissioning, performance tests, etc.

• Provide assistance support as a specialist, explaining the technical facts to the customer / contact person for technical questions / representing the company to the customer.

• Perform major overhauls of various MAN ES portfolio engines and / or turbochargers.

• Support the customer in the coordination of the assembly process, as well as extensive assembly and disassembly of parts / assemblies according to work cards / checklists.

• Technically coordinate the plants, systems and component findings, if necessary, advise customers on preventive maintenance. Support with commissioning work.

• Process warranty cases, i.e. make and check customer claims, send parts and  personnel if necessary, tracking in alignment with and following approval by HQ.

• Report incidents, accidents and near-misses according to procedures; investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.

• Correctly use PPE (personal protective equipment) provided and all HSE relevant material.

• Create reports and handle standard and special software. Analyze the maintenance data and make suggestions for improvement.

• Implement enforcing and monitoring standard maintenance and HSE policies and procedures according to MAN standards guideline, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

• Develop technically optimized solutions.

You can help us with these qualifications

• Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Class III/II Marine engineer  or equivalent

• 5 + years of related experience, preferably in the marine industry or power plant

• Detailed understanding of the business both technical and commercial levels

• Principles of work preparation/ project management; leadership

• Health and safety, environmental, quality and safety requirements

• Prepared to travel worldwide.

• Knowledge in technical report writing with Microsoft Office

Manager Technical/ Superintendent Engineer (Sri Lanka)

We can offer you the following tasks:

The Technical Manager / Superintendent Engineer is responsible for managing the Service Department, for the execution and coordination of service and maintenance projects as well as for education and training of employees according to PrimeServ Care (competency assessment and development program). Provides the highest level of customer Service with a sales-minded attitude while developing lasting customer relationships.

 Support the development of the overall MAN ES Service Strategy

• Respond technical inquiries from customers with required skills/knowledge on the subject, ensuring a professional customer service and approach.

• Upon receipt of Service requests, actively cooperate with MAN ES PrimeServ worldwide network for service attendance and product related.

• Provide accurate and timely quotations for planned and unplanned work. Follow up with customers on service calls, and open sales orders.

• Plan and prepare maintenance, repairs and services as well as coordinate and technically guide internal and external personnel on company supplied equipment, e.g. ships and/or power plants worldwide (as team leader). Assign work tasks and discuss work results with employees.

• Ensure the technically flawless and economical execution (budget compliance) of maintenance, repairs, services, commissioning work on plants / multi-engine plants supplied by the company (ship/stationary) worldwide. If necessary, solve problems in the event of disrupted plant operation (analyze fault patterns, identify triggers, suggest technical solutions to problems and coordinate them with customers, HQ and other trades). Implement solutions.

• Be contact person for consulting services for customers and worldwide service centers for all technical issues of delivered plants.

• Support the processing of warranty cases, i.e. creating and checking customer claims, sending parts and personnel if necessary in alignment with HQ.

• Prepare and elaborate fault analyses for damage cases on site, responsible performance of internal damage analyses (root cause analysis), fault rectification / product improvement in cooperation with other departments such as quality, engineering, purchasing, etc. Assess wear and damage patterns and define and implement appropriate measures.

• Perform partial commissioning of power plant and marine engines (e.g. after maintenance/repair), i.e. acceptance of the plants/systems, having delivery and performance deviations corrected. Hand over plants/systems etc. to customers and document the handover.

• Develop and create service/customer documentation.

• Stay abreast of competencies of company resources and ensures adherence to MAN ES quality and safety programs and standards.

• Develop staff by mapping competences, tracking training needs and increasing their competences (PS Care).

• Verify submitted staff time sheets and declarations.

• Budgetary responsible for the technical service organization.

• In conjunction with the Sales & Workshop team, responsible for maintaining required reporting (within few days after completion of job), collecting the data and distributing accordingly.

• Support payment security and dealing with outstanding issues.

• Update the Head of PrimeServ on all matters, issues and activities.

  • At least 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or Class I/II Marine engineer or Equivalent   
  • Service oriented mindset combined with a high degree of customer satisfaction and social intelligence
  • Excellent Leadership skills set required in areas such as influencing people and customers, communication skills and project management
