Gears and integrally geared compressors
Berlin is the center of excellence for integrally geared compressors.
The Product center combines the competencies for the engineering and the production of integrally geared compressors including the manufacturing of impellers and gear sets as well as the assembling and testing of gear boxes serving both the new equipment and PrimeServ business.
Technology innovation
MAN CCUS
The world’s industrial production needs to become carbon-neutral, fast. Avoidance, balancing, and capture are the three main carbon-reduction tactics. But not all three approaches are viable for all industrial producers. Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) provides a proven and practical way of reducing emissions for large industrial plants in hard to abate sectors. MAN technology plays a key part in CCUS.
Heatpumps
Heat pumps are an important technology in the context of successful decarbonization of the heat supply for businesses and communities. Used in an industrial context, they not only save fuel costs, but can contribute to making a company’s heat supply carbon neutral and open up new business opportunities.
Hydrogen
Hydrogen is a key element in the energy transition. It has the potential to decarbonize a vast variety of sectors, from shipping, heating and cooling to industrial applications. We at MAN Energy Solutions acknowledge the power of H2 and with our solutions and services, we are already covering all parts of the hydrogen economy today.

MAN Energy Solutions to Provide Compressor Technology for EGR/CCUS Project in Indonesia
MAN Energy Solutions will supply three integrally geared compressors for bp’s Enhanced Gas Recovery (EGR) and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) project at the Tangguh LNG plant in Papua Barat, Indonesia. This effort is part of Tangguh’s integrated Project UCC, which encompasses the Ubadari gas field development aimed at extending the gas feed to Tangguh’s three-train LNG operations.
MAN’s compressor trains will be located at an onshore facility, where CO2 will be compressed to a maximum of 165 bar. The UCC project is set to separate the reservoir CO2 from produced gas and reinject it for enhanced gas recovery and sequestration.
Dr. Marco Ernst, Head of Sales and Project Management CCS at MAN Energy Solutions, stated: “We are delighted to collaborate with bp on this significant project that supports Indonesia in meeting its carbon reduction targets and advancing its energy transition goals. CO2 emissions remain a challenge in LNG production, making CCUS solutions an essential part of the transition to a more sustainable energy future. With our advanced compressor technology, we draw on our extensive know-how and years of experience in CO2 compression to provide efficient and reliable solutions tailored to the demands of major projects like this one."
The scope of supply for Tangguh includes three multi-shaft integrally geared CO2 compressors, type RG90-8, each equipped with an electric motor and VFD starter, oil system, coolers and control cabinet. The solution also includes a dynamic process simulation, allowing the compressor system to operate at its fullest potential in terms of process efficiency.
The Tangguh project utilizes a modular compressor design specifically developed for CCUS applications, enabling a tailored approach to meet market demands. Lars Rosenow, Project Manager Sales at MAN Energy Solutions, explains: “Pre-designed compressor modules allow us to adapt our engineering more quickly and effectively to the specific project needs. This modular approach not only helps reduce CAPEX and OPEX but also ensures high operational efficiency. Additionally, it simplifies project implementation by reducing production and testing times and streamlining on-site installation.”
